The future of North Wilts Saddle Club ( NWSC)
This unaffiliated riding club was set up nearly 50 years ago but sadly in recent times we have struggled to secure a decent number of members and to attract riders to our events. Times have changed considerably since the mid- 1970s, with now so much more on offer for equestrians to engage in, all marketed via various social media platforms.
The committee have decided, for the time being, NOT to close down the club but to change tack ( pun intended) slightly;
• For 2025 onwards, those wishing to formally join the club, be a “friend of NWSC“, can continue to do so, by formally submitting a m’ship form via our website BUT the fee will be reduced from £15 pa, to a nominal £1. (Any donations over £1 will be accepted).
• No family m’ship will be available.
• All entry fees will be the same for all riders – ie both member / non-members and will be kept to a minimum.
• Our aim will be to raise enough money through our events to cover our insurance costs, and at close of the financial year, we shall make an annual donation to charity.
• We will reduce the number of fixtures we run, so that we avoid cancelling dates, due to lack of interest, remember all our events are OPEN TO ALL.
• Probable fixtures will be;
Le trec clinics – 1 or 2 per season at Breach Lane.
Online dressage – covering winter mths – beneficial for those without transport and if weather foul, you can pick a good day to ride/ video your test, then submit it between the specific dates given on schedule.
Dressage -covering summer months, perhaps two at Ravensbrook Farm, Minety and then two at Brook Stud.
Alternate years, perhaps, either the June or Sept Pleasure Ride ( using maps /
instructions ) covering Braydon / Brinkworth area or The Charlton Park Charity Ride. – the latter we do struggle to get sufficient feet on the ground to act as stewards.
Showing Show ( in memory of Ossie Ward) – annual show in July in Braydon nr Minety, next one 27th July 2025.

Ethos: The club aims to have something for everyone no matter what level you or your horse is – ultimately we’re about having fun with the horses (and hopefully they’ll enjoy it too !)

Schedules will be uploaded as will membership forms, times, event photos and results from our shows and maybe even photos from our social events !
